Call Of Duty: Vanguard Was Best-Selling Game In U.S. In November, With Battlefield 2042 Behind It In Second Place

Call of Duty: Vanguard was last month’s best-selling U.S. game, while Battlefield 2042 came in second as the most-sold game of November. 

This is the latest news from NPD Group’s Mat PiscatellaThe Observer regularly monitors monthly sales in America of hardware and physical video games. Piscatella, who posts monthly updates on the previous month’s sales data to Twitter, revealed that Vanguard became the second-best-selling video game of 2018. He also said that in 2021 it will be the fourteenth consecutive year that a Call of Duty title has become the most-sold game of its month. 

Battlefield 2042 was second in the last month’s sales and sixth overall. Shining Pearl and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond were second and third respectively, while Forza Horizon 5 was in the middle. Forza Horizon 5 set an unprecedented launch month record for both Horizon and Motorsport, according to Piscatella. Piscatella states that Shin Megami Tensei V was the most successful launch-month dollar-sales game in all of the series. It also was the 16th-best-selling (and sixth-best-selling) game on Switch. 

It occupied the number one spot in the console category, a position it has held for the past 35 months. However, total hardware dollars sales fell 38 percent to $883 million in November 2020. Piscatella claims November 2021’s hardware spending was at its lowest level since November 2016. This is due to a lack of console inventory.

Piscatella’s and NPD Group monitor year-to date game sales with the new month sales. November is no different. The following are the 10 top-selling games on all platforms across the U.S. in November:

• Black Ops, Call of Duty: Cold War
• Vanguard and Call of Duty
• Madden NFL 22
• The Show 21
• Resident Evil: Village
• Battlefield 2042
• Super Mario 3D World
• Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Perl
• Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man
• Far Cry 6
