Modern Warfare II topped the list with 8 of 20 titles. It is the 15th Call of Duty video game that has been the highest-selling title of any month. Modern Warfare II was launched in October, putting it at the 2nd spot on the Top 20 Best-Sellers Games of all Time. This is second to Elden Ring by From Software. In The NPD Group’s October 2022 Report, the NPD Group reports that players spent $4.3 Billion on video games, accessories, and hardware last month. This is roughly what they did last year. Overall, year-to date spending on videogames has decreased 7% to $42.7billion compared to the point in 2021. Last month’s video game hardware sales were also down 10% compared with October 2021 at $424 million. Piscatella saysThe declines in sales on the other platforms offset double-digit percent dollar growth of both Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 consoles.
The October best-selling hardware was the PlayStation 5, both in units sold and in total dollars. Xbox came in second. Finaly, the video game accessory market has fallen 8% to $148 million compared to last year. It was the most popular accessory, the PS5 Midnight Black DualSense control.
