Bobby Kotick Reportedly Interviewed By James Corden During Employee Meeting About Guitar Hero And More
Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard in 2012 for $69 billion. Reports indicate that this deal should close on Wednesday, October 13th. This means the long saga of Activision Blizzard is finally over. Activision Blizzard announced that they would not release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, or Diablo IV this year on Xbox Game Pass. A new report has revealed that, according to Windows CentralActivision Blizzard’s CEO Bobby Kotick was interviewed by former late night show host James Corden yesterday about Guitar Hero and future technologies.
Guitar Hero Live is the latest in a series that began in 2005 with the first Guitar Hero. Since then, there have been several spin-offs and sequels. Kotick alluded to Guitar Hero when he was discussing Elon Musk’s Neuralink project, VR and Microsoft Research, which could help players interact with screens without a controller. Windows Central.
Kotick is reported to have said that “a big part of my experience at Microsoft has been research”. They do extraordinary development. And so being able to tap into their AI and machine learning capability, the data analytics, new ways of thinking about graphics – I just see unlimited potential for what we do. Our company is unique because it has the most popular video game franchises.
Windows Central Kotick, according to reports, then talked about the next ten years of gaming with Activision Blizzard. He also spoke fondly about Pitfall River Raids Guitar Hero and the past.
The resurgence and other products would not have been possible without these different kinds of resources, he added. “And, so, I know that the possibilities are endless for the future, and they’re just incredible.”
Activision Blizzard’s interest in bringing back Guitar Hero is not confirmed, but the sound of it is. Kotick has not specified what types of “resources” he is talking about in regard to the re-emergence of Guitar Hero. Only time will tell. Activision Blizzard may be able tap into Microsoft resources once the acquisition is complete.
