Blizzard Reveals Three New World Of Warcraft Expansions, Starting With ‘The War Within’ Next Year

Blizzard Entertainment announced three new World of Warcraft Expansions during BlizzCon in 2023. The War Within will be released next year. The studio describes the Worldsoul Saga as an ambitious creative venture for the Warcraft Universe. Midnight is the next expansion in this new saga. The Last Titan follows. The Worldsoul Saga includes The War Within as well as Midnight and The Last Titan. 

In a recent press release, it was revealed that an ancient Nerubian culture is rising from the depths of the earth, aided in this by Xal’atath – the harbinger to the Void introduced with the Legion expansion. Earthen is a new race of allied players available to Horde or Alliance. They will help the player explore a world which has been around for hundreds of years and where the denizens prepare for conflict that lies ahead.

Blizzard announced the increase in level cap to 80 in The War Within. This will allow players to discover new areas, enemies, loot and new allies in places like the Isle of Dorn at surface level, Ringing Deeps industrial area, bright and lush Hallowfall and Azikahet the pinnacle of Nerubian Society. 

Delves are also coming to the War Within. They are world instances that can be scaled for up to five players. Experience earned from these worlds will contribute to a reward track for players of world content in the Great Vault. 

A press release stated that “new Hero Talents will allow players to advance their character with self-contained, evergreen talent trees. These also include a class fantasy flair inspired by classic Warcraft universe archetypes like a Mountain Thane or Dark Ranger. Warbands allows players to enjoy account-wide progress with their Battle.net characters, irrespective of the faction. This includes War Within renown shared between all characters, as well as a warbands bank, achievements and more. Transmog will also be updated to allow players to learn how any piece of equipment looks, even if it cannot be equipped. 

World of Warcraft The War Within is coming to PCs and Macs in 2024. 

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic

Blizzard revealed World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic at BlizzCon. 

Azeroth is shattered by Deathwing, who erupts from Deephold’s elemental plane, and leaves behind a festering, world-wide wound. The third World of Warcraft extension, released by Blizzard in December 2010, features an enhanced leveling system and a new dungeon-difficulty system.

Two new playable races – Worgens and Goblins – join the struggle between the Alliance and the Horde in Cataclysm Classic, alongside a new level cap of 85, new zones, new levels of power, and more. 

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic will be available on PCs and Macs in the year 2024.

World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery

Season of Discovery is the final World of Warcraft announcement from BlizzCon this year. It will be live in later this year. Season of Discovery will see players embark on a new adventure, where experimentation and exploration will play a key role in unlocking abilities for characters. Players will also be able test out their newly-acquired abilities in classic dungeons, as well world events that pit players against each other.

Blizzard also announced that Hearthstone Battlegrounds Duos will be available in 2024, adding “an exciting, truly collaborative, way of playing the popular game mode.” Warcraft Rumble was released on iOS and Android, replacing the previous Warcraft Arclight Rumble.
