Blizzard launches Overwatch 2’s new single-player Hero Mastery mode
Overwatch 2 players now have no one but themselves to blame when things go south in a game… at least in the hero shooter’s new single-player mode, Hero Mastery. The new mode, which launches Thursday, is part of a free update to the game that presents players with “an action-packed course filled with training bots, obstacles, and jump pads as you race for the finish line,” Blizzard says.
Hero Mastery focuses on high scores. Players test their skill as Mercy (and Reinhardt later this year) and Tracer, while fighting training bots. Emblems are also collected.
Overwatch 2The practice range is a simpler version of the game where players can use their skills against passive bots. Hero Mastery has a few more difficult training bots: Rocket Bots shoot projectiles to inflict a burst of damage, and Sniper Bots attack long-range. Some scenarios will require players to even escort friendly bots. To boost scores, in addition to defeating and avoiding bots the player will have to collect symbols.

It could be that Hero Mastery’s three characters-specific courses are more difficult than the others. Blizzard has plans to release more content in future seasons. Season 6 runs until mid-October.
Hero Mastery launches as a limited time event which will run until the 25th of September. After completing a set of challenges, players will receive a souvenir, spray and weapon charm. Leaderboards will allow players to track their progress on the 500 best players per region.
Overwatch 2’s Hero Master mode is available on all platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
