Blade Runner: Black Lotus anime will release later this year
Blade Runner: Black LotusCrunchyroll has unveiled a trailer for Anime, Crunchyroll’s new series. The trailer gives us more detail about its storyline and the characters. On Thursday at New York Comic Con 2021 they released the trailer. They also revealed that the series will premiere on Nov. 13.
The trailer is the most impressive look at the show we’ve had so far. The trailer shows Los Angeles’ familiar streets, complete with giant billboards and video screens flashing in the distance, as well as the shaky, steam-belowing aircraft of Blade Runner. We also got to hear from a villainous-sounding Brian Cox, who voices a character named Niander Wallace, Sr.. Wallace Sr. is the father of Jared Leto’s Niander Wallace Jr. character from 2017’s Blade Runner 2049 Live-action film. Wes Bentley voices Junior in the anime series.
The trailer also highlights the bizarre life of Elle the replicant, who is voiced in the Trailer Matrix: Resurrections’ Jessica Henwick. Elle was created for a specific purpose. In the trailer we see her fight, dream, take a Voight-Kampff test, and swear to “kill them all,” though we don’t necessarily know who she means just yet.
