Benedict Fox Will Take Up His Last Case Early Next Year

Hi, we’re Plot Twist, a young but experienced studio on Poland’s indie video game map. We’ve just revealed our newest project called Benedict Fox’s Last Case at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase and we can’t wait to tell you more about it!

We knew that we wanted to make a world that you could believe in and tell a compelling story. And we also wanted to design gameplay that was captivating. To these ends, we’ve made Benedict Fox’s Last Case a hand-crafted metroidvania experience.

By “handcrafted,” we mean a seamless combination of a metroidvania’s depth and richness with the immersive atmosphere of cinematic platformers. You will be able to fight demons, find hidden mazes and solve complex puzzles while exploring twisted, fascinating plots that involve secret organisations, forbidden rituals and cold-blooded killers.

One of the things that make Benedict’s investigation special is his Companion. The fates of our detective and a demon being were bound at birth, which has made them intertwined for many years. What is an interesting piece of the lore in itself (let’s talk about it some other time!) carries some practical implications.

First of all, the Companion’s powers let you explore the minds of the recently deceased in your last chance to get a “testimony”. These Limbos can be described as surreal realms in which memories, emotions and traumas assume physical form. These forms will often want to hurt Benedict.

That’s when it becomes obvious that a demon companion is a great asset also in combat.  Combine his power (which includes tentacles!) with firearms and creative use of your surroundings to overcome the enemies – but remember that concentration and a tactical approach are still your best allies.
