Bel-Air’s trailer reimagines Will Smith’s Fresh Prince in gritty style
Peacock have launched the primary trailer for Bel-Air, the one-hour sequence based mostly on the hit ’90s sitcom The Recent Prince of Bel-Air.
Set in up to date America, the trailer recounts the early days of Will’s (Jabari Banks) journey to Los Angeles, from his fateful confrontation on the streets of his hometown of West Philly, his subsequent arrest, to arriving at doorways of his uncle Phil’s (Adrian Holmes) palatial mansion and assembly his estranged cousin Carlton (Olly Sholotan). Acquainted names and occasions apart, the variations in tone between the previous sequence and Bel-Air couldn’t be extra starkly obvious.

Government produced by Will Smith and co-written and directed by Morgan Cooper, whose viral 2019 trailer impressed the sequence’ premise, Bel-Air guarantees a extra “uncooked” and grounded depiction of Will’s story of development and redemption. Removed from the social butterfly seen within the authentic present, Banks’ Will struggles to settle into his new life in Bel-Air amid his tense relationship together with his status-obsessed cousin and the pressures positioned on him. In overcoming his challenges adjusting to his new college and duties, Will should let go of the previous and embrace the possibility at a brand new life he has been given.
Peacock’s Bel-Air will premiere on Tremendous Bowl Sunday (Feb. 13) with three episodes at launch adopted by new episodes launched weekly.
