Barbie’s mugshot is now a nerdy fan art meme

It’s possible that the Barbie film has produced one of the best memes on Twitter.

The trailer was released by Warner Bros. and Greta Gerwig last week. Barbie. In it, Barbie slugs a man in Venice Beach and gets thrown in jail, with the trailer showing both her booking photo (and Ken’s).

The images of Barbie and Ken have inspired memes, where people swap them out with other beloved characters in video game franchises and anime.

A viral post was shared. online by user Mew on Twitter. In the tweet, you can see both Barbie and Ken’s mugshots side by side. Barbie appears to be stressed and worried, while Ken has the biggest smile. This dichotomy in their responses clearly won over many fans. The tweet received more than 32 thousand quotes tweets when it was published.

The quote tweets are now stuffed with fan art referencing seemingly every fandom that’s ever existed. The Muppets, anime heroes and video game characters are all represented.

The phenomenon started on Twitter but spreads to other platforms such as TikTok.
