Baldur’s Gate 3 Bard Class Features, Spells, and Subclasses

Baldurs Gate 3You can choose between 12 different classes when creating your character. There are 12 different classes to choose from when creating your character. BardThis performance-based caster can be used to play offensive or supporting roles.

They can use music to heal and inspire their friends, as well as to do damage. The primary stat for bards is Charisma.

Bard Class Features

The Hit Points

  • Hit Dice — 1d8 per Bard level
  • First Level Hit Points — 8 + your Constitution modifier
  • Higher Hit Points — 5 + your Constitution modifer per Bard level after 1st

Take Action

The Bard can provide allies Bardic Inspiration Once per long rest. It works the same way as GuidelineYou can still cast spells, but you’ll let your allies use a 6 instead of a 4.

Spells

Each Long Rest gives Bards 2 Spell slots at level 1.

Proficiencies

  • Weapons — Simple Weapons, Hand Crossbows, Longswords, Rapiers, Shortswords
  • Armor — Light Armor
  • You can also learn more about — Deception, Insight, Performance, Persuasion, Religion
  • Saving Throws — Charisma, Dexterity

Bard spells

Bards begin with two cantrips taken from the Bard’s spell list.

Blade Ward Get half the damage when you Bludgeon, Piercing or Slash.
Mage Hand Create a hand that is able to interact and manipulate objects
True Strike You can now gain an advantage on the next attack roll
Friends Achieve an Advantage in Charisma Tests against Non-Hostile Creatures
Dancing Lights Illuminate a 30ft radius
Light Aura of Light can be infused into an object
Minor Illusion The illusion will compel nearby creatures to investigate

They also have two slots for level one spells per long rest. The bard knows four out of fifteen spells.

Charm Person A humanoid will not attack if you charm it. You get an Advantage when you use dialogue.

Disguise Self Change your entire appearance with a magic touch
The Dissonant Whisper Fear a creature and inflict 3d6 psychic damage.
Faerie Fire As soon as the target is visible, all attacks against it will be favored.
Featherfall Immunity from Falling Damage to you and allies nearby
Healing Word The 1d4+3 Healing
Heroism You or your chosen target can become immune to the condition Frightened and receive 5 temporary Hit Points per turn.
Longstrider The movement speed of a creature is increased by 10ft.
Sleep Place creatures in a state of magical slumber.
Animals speak with you Learn to understand and communicate with animals
Tasha’s hideous laughter A creature that is unable to move, or laughs a lot can be left prone.
Thunderwave You can release a wave of forceful thunder that will push all objects and creatures away for 2d8 damage from Thunder (CON save)

Bard Subclasses

Bards are able to choose their subclass at the level of 3.

College of Lore

College of Lore Bards love stories — both hearing them and telling them. You gain ProficiencyYou can also learn Arcana, Intimidation and Sleight of Hand, in addition to getting Cut Words (use a Bardic Inspiration to subtract the roll from an enemy’s).

College of Valor

College of Valor Bards tend to be a little more heroic. Bardic Inspiration Now, you can add the damage to Armor class as well.

College of Swords

College of Sword Bards fights with their weapon just as much as they do with an instrument. The College of Sword Bard can select:

  • Slashing Flavorish (melee). — attack up to two creatures at once
  • Melee (defensive fleurish) — attack defensively, increasing your AC by 4 if you hit
  • The Defensive Flourish is a ranged attack. — attack defensively, increasing your AC by 4 if you hit
  • Mobile Flourish (melee) — thrust your weapon with enough force to push your target back 20ft. You can then teleport yourself to your target.
  • Mobile Flourish (ranged) — Shoot a target with enough force to push your target back 20 feet. You can then teleport directly to your target.
  • Slashing Flourish — attack up to two creatures at once
