Babylon’s Fall Will Shut Down Less Than A Year After Launch

Square Enix, developer Platinum Games and Square Enix announced today that Babylon’s Fall will be shutting down in the next year. Its March 3 launch was less than a whole year ago.

Platinum Games has announced that the service will be terminated on February 27th, 2023. The reason for this decision was not given by Platinum Games, but the poor reception of the game’s launch and the insufficient number of players it has had since then. Square Enix tried to remedy the game’s issues by sending players a survey asking them how the team can improve the game and shortly after, Platinum Games said it has “no plans to reduce the scale of development on Babylon’s Fall.” The situation has changed, as Babylon’s fall will be falling early next year.

The statement states that “We launched the game’s official site on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022 with the intention of providing an exhilarating online multiplayer RPG experience set in an intricate high fantasy setting.” It is with great regret that I have to tell you that the game’s services will cease on February 27, 2023.

We will cancel large-scale updates we planned. The plan for the future is that Season 2 will continue as planned until Tuesday November 29th 2022. On the other hand, the Final Season will start with maintenance on the same date. You can still earn Season 2’s ranking rewards during this Final Season. To show our gratitude for all of our players, we will implement many other events, including those that lead up to the final season.

The complete list can be viewed here. Platinum Games warns players to be careful as the schedule may change without warning. According to the game’s website, service will cease on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 11 p.m. PST/2 a.m. ET. ET: You will lose access to the game as well as all your gameplay data.

According to the statement, “Leading until today, all of our Sentinels provided feedback through many surveys, livestreams and official Discord servers, as well as social media channels. It has been an enormous help for us in both the Development and Operations team.” In particular, we got a lot of enthusiasm from our survey participants along with keen observations about issues and suggestions for improvements. These messages made it clear that our team was able to build the Babylon’s Fall world together. We appreciate all the support we received, but we regretfully have to end this game’s service. “We hope that you will continue playing Babylon’s Fall through the closure of this service.”
