Avatar actor Janet Varney talks Legend of Korra in new Blu-ray clip

KorraGo back to Last Airbender like it’s a prequel. It’s possible to do anything, but everyone has a different view on how the story plays out. Janet Varney, the person who voiced Korra’s character, couldn’t help but begin at the beginning and feel the emotion of the moment.

A new package that bundles the conversation in The Ultimate Aang and Korra Blu-ray Collection includes this: Avatar of The Last Airbender Legend of KorraVarney and Varney meet for the first-ever time. Avatar: Braving The ElementsDante Basco is the podcast host and voiceover for Zuko. He talks about Korra’s dimensions that were essential in bringing her life over four seasons. For anyone who binged the series for the first time when it popped up on Netflix last year, it might be easy to overlook Korra’s character details or underestimate the struggles she faces. Varney found the character traits she needed to understand Korra and be able to relate to her as an individual through them.

“We have this Avatar who is the polar opposite of Aang,” she says in the exclusive video clip above. “She is a horrible airbender, and all of the things about her personality that go with not knowing how to airbend.”

Some fans found it difficult to relate to Korra, who was facing arguably more daunting ordeals than Aang. But Varney hits on one important detail that’s really only emphasized in one early scene in the series: “She found out she was the Avatar Very young.”
