Atlus Celebrates Selling One Million Copies Of Shin Megami Tensei V

Atlus announces a record sales figure for Shin Megami Tensei V on Switch. This new total boasts a seven-figure number of copies. Shin Megami Tensei V sold more than one million copies worldwide.

Altus_West tweeted the news, dropping sales of the Switch JRPG. The tweet only says the one million figure represents total worldwide sales but doesn’t break down the number into units sold for each region.

You can also see embedded into the tweet, as you can see, a piece Masayuki Doni’s art depicting the main character in SMTV. This was created to thank fans for purchasing the game.

Atlus announced that SMTV was at the top of series sales, having sold 800,000 copies. Since then, it has continued to sell steadily. The previous entry, 2014’s Shin Megami Tensei IV on 3DS, sold upwards of 600,000 copies, an impressive number for a franchise that hasn’t quite hit the mainstream yet. SMTV, on the other hand has a lot of work to do to catch up with Persona 5 Royal, the latest Shin Megami Tensei franchise. It has sold more that 1.8million copies in total worldwide according to a Gematsu story.

Shin Megami Tensei V is the story of a student from Tokyo today who’s taken to an alternate, apocalyptic reality. There they find themselves in a conflict between demons and angels. You can read the review to find out more about SMT V.
