Aspyr Is Acquiring MythForce Developer Beamdog
Game publisher Aspyr has announced that it will be acquiring development studio Beamdog. One day after the announcement of MythForce by both companies, this news was made via a Twitter.
Tweet: “We are excited to welcome Beamdog’s talented team to the Aspyr family!” The tweet does not include any information about the purchase, other than a link that takes you to MythForce.
Beamdog is a specialist in the remastering of classic Dungeons and Dragons RPGs, other than MythForce. The company has also released Enhanced Editions for Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale as well as Neverwinter Nights and Planescape: Torment. Beamdog recently released an online version of Axis and Allies 1942, a strategy board game.
Aspyr is also involved in the remastering of and release games. The developer/publisher has been bringing back Star Wars games from the recently bygone eras, such as Star Wars: Episode I – Racer, Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, and the upcoming port of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on Switch. Aspyr, which announced the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake at The Game Awards in 2017, is making these ports.
MythForce is the joint project that ties these studios before the acquisition. It’s a fantasy roguelite for four players with an art style similar to Saturday morning cartoons. You can see the trailer in yesterday’s announcement story. Mythforce will be available exclusively in Early Access on Epic Games Store from April 20.
