Arrested Development is leaving Netflix soon

Arrested DevelopmentThe cult-favorite sitcom “The Friend” will be leaving Netflix on March 15. It is about a dysfunctional, wealthy family. All five seasons of the series will leave Netflix on March 15, which means you’ll need to get all your Netflix time with Bluth gang in before then.

It was a hugely successful show. Arrested DevelopmentNumerous imitators were launched and many careers. The pilot was directed by the Russo brothers who were also producers.

This was originally made by Fox. Arrested Development was cancelled after three seasons by the network, and was picked up by Netflix nearly a decade later as one of the streaming service’s first major pieces of original programming. It lasted for two seasons, which was largely a failure.

Three seasons in the first season of Arrested Development They are available on Hulu as well, although there is no sign that they will be removed. Hulu adding the last two seasons to their platform once they’re removed from Netflix would sure make a lot of sense, but no announcement has been made.

These are the first four seasons Arrested Development are also available to rent or purchase digitally on VOD vendors, but the fifth season is not — meaning when Netflix removes the fifth season from their platform, there will be no legal way to watch it online (and there’s been no official physical release of the season, either). With more streaming services removing original content as well as library content, preservation becomes more and more of a concern — even for those seasons that weren’t so well-received.
