Apex Legends – Revelry Shakes Up the Party with an Anniversary Celebration and New Season of Content

Summary

  • Team Deathmatch – 6 vs. 6 (two 3-person squads per team).
  • Remastered Legend Classes and Perks – five classes each with special benefits.
  • Nemesis Burst Assault Rifle – Energy class assault rifle with auto trigger and burst fire.

Other words for “revelry” are partying, festivities, merrymaking… and that’s exactly what you can expect from this season of Apex Legends. It has grown steadily over the past four years, adding new Legends and weapons to its arsenal, as well as maps, seasons, season, and other features. This year may have been the most important with the Revelry Update on February 14. Apex Legends yet.

Team Deathmatch Replaces Arenas

I was disappointed to hear that Arenas mode is being removed from the game (it’s one of my personal favorites). Instead, Respawn will bring Team Deathmatch to the game. Six-player teams will compete in this classic game mode for the best-of-3 matches. To battle against other Skull Town and Habitat teams, you can join a team with 2 friends or autofill.

Additionally, Apex LegendsMixtape mode will debut in March. It is a playlist that contains TDM, fan favorites and other limited-time modes. Mixtape, Team Deathmatch and Mixtape won’t have ranked modes for at least the time being. Ranked Battle Royale, another fan-requested feature, will have a map rotation.

Legendary Classes Remastered and Perks

A recent preview showed that Legends would now have a choice of one or five classes, while still retaining all their abilities. This was the most significant revelation from the event. The developers discussed how players weren’t selecting Legends based on their roles, largely because the class structure wasn’t impactful enough. This inequality eventually led to the restructuring of all core classes.

Following the Revelry Update, every class will gain a special benefit (perk); it will be accessible to all Legends within that class. Some perks are similar to those that already exist in the game. These include supply bins with specific compartments, scanning for next ring locations and scans. Other perks could be game-changing and will include the ability to reveal enemy locations and create teammate banners with the Replicator. The redesign will benefit teams that have a mix of defensive and offensive classes as well as Legends.

Nemesis Burst Assault Weapon

The Nemesis Burst Assault Rifle was designed to be competitive with the R-301 assault rifles and Flatline assault rifles. Each pull of the trigger triggers a 4-round burst. However, holding the trigger activates the Auto Trigger function and repeats burst fire automatically. The longer the trigger pull, the shorter the time between bursts until it’s firing like a fully automatic weapon. It’s very powerful and I expect to see a lot of players using it.

This season’s weapon updates include the return the Rampage Light Machine Gun on the battlefield and the Volt Submachine Gun, Longbow DMR and Volt Submachine Gun being made available on the Replicator. The shotguns have received some upgrades. Mastiff and Peacekeeper can equip tactical stock to increase reload speed and handling. A gold shotgun bolt, which improves rate of fire, will also be available.

The Top Three Things I’m Most Excited for in Apex LegendsRevelry

  • Ally Banners Recovered (Even if Expired)) – Of all the new class perks revealed during the preview event, this was the one that excited me the most. Support Legends (Loba, Lifeline, Gibraltar, and Newcastle) will be able to craft teammates’ banners from a Replicator for 30 units of material, even if their Banner Card on their death box has expired. You’ll still need to use one of the stationary or mobile Respawn Beacons to respawn your teammates, but hopefully this change encourages fallen players to stick around for a chance to rejoin the fight.
  • Care Package Weapon – Learning the Hemlock Assault Rifle will be part of the Care Package this season was a bit of a surprise since it isn’t one of the more popular weapons – but it’s one of my personal favorites and this augmented version is devastating in combat. It boasts increased damage, especially with headshots, plus it’s equipped with the boosted loaded feature. It’s pretty awesome.
  • A new player experience – I applaud Respawn for improving the onboarding of new players by implementing measures to help them learn the game. Before accessing the public servers, recruits must complete several orientation matches against bot-dominated battlefields. New recruits will be able to earn the Apex 101 badge by completing 10 tasks that introduce key gameplay mechanics. This innovative approach will allow new players to join the game and will match them up with experienced, battle-ready friends.

Like every other new product Apex LegendsRevelry’s new Battle Pass will be available this season. It includes weapon skins, legends, gun charms banner frames and emotes. The celebrations will include colorful banners on the buildings, and the Legends’ Chibi balloons shining in the skies. Most importantly, Mirage Voyage is back. Enjoy the Revelry!
