An archer breaks down Link’s stance in The Breath of the Wild
Link seems to excel at almost everything, as the main character in The Legend of Zelda series. He is a skilled fighter. He’s a great cook. His vast collection of odd weapons is at his disposal with all the expertise of a skilled expert. You can find out more at In The Legend of Zelda – The Breath of The WildHe even learns how to fly the glider. He’s amazing at literally everything he does, or so it appeared.
There is one flaw beneath all those heroics: He doesn’t draw his arrows correctly. Or more so, the way he draws an arrow isn’t recommended by archery experts. Ridgeline Mounted Archers, an Oregon-based organization that teaches horse archery — yes, it’s when you ride a horse and shoot a bow at the same time — posted a video explaining what kind of draw Link uses in The Wild Breath. The way Link shoots his arrows can cause it to be difficult for you to accurately aim.
It was explained by one of the instructors via TikTok. You can watch Link inTake a deep breath of the wild, he mounts his arrow on the top of the bow and uses what the instructor calls an “inverted two-finger” draw. According to the archer, this draw “really sucks” and people shouldn’t use it. Because it propels the arrow the opposite way you would like it to,
In a second video I explain how to fire an archer this way. It will cause your string to twist and pull the arrow away from the sides. (So, maybe it’s not the best if you’re trying to nab a Bokoblin from a distance.) You can also see videos of other fictional archers, which the instructor made.
