Amazon’s The Wheel of Time series’ new trailer sets up the story

Amazon’s massive (non-Lord of the Rings) fantasy series, The Wheel of Time, is almost here, and the show’s latest trailer gives fans a preview of how the story starts.

In the trailer, Moiraine (Rosemund Pike) is introduced to us. Moiraine is part of Aes Sedai which is a group that teaches women channeling magic. The Aes Sedai agents travel around the world searching for magicians that could save the Dark One from its imminent approach.

This quest brings Moiraine and her Warder (basically her bodyguard) Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henney), to the small town of Emond’s Field where they meet Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), Mat Cauthon (Barney Harris), Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), Egwene al’Vere (Madeleine Madden), and Nynaeve al’Meara (Zoë Robins). Moiraine is convinced that all five of these young people are the answer to the Dark One’s demise and the salvation of the planet.

The Wheel of Time’s first season will have eight episodes and will begin streaming on Amazon Prime video on Nov. 19. Amazon already renewed the series for a second year.
