Always In Mind Is An Upcoming Narrative-Focused Action Platformer From A Former Square Enix, Sega Dev

Cord Smith worked for Compulsion Games as well as Ubisoft Square Enix and Sega. Inevitable Studios, a studio he founded in 2010, is the first project of his team. It’s a narrative action platformer called “Always In Mind”. It’s a game where players have to escape from their mind by using the special abilities they gain through reliving their family stories.

The game is currently on Steam’s wishlist, which indicates a PC release. No word has been given about consoles. It’s also announced that the Kickstarter for “Always in Mind” will be coming very soon.

You can tell that the visuals of Always in Mind are quite unique. Teddy is a 12-year old in a hospital in a state of coma. His only chance of awakening comes from Proxy, an AI implant that has been dormant for a very long time. Teddy has Proxy to thank for his awareness of the situation, but he needs to “self-realize” in order regain consciousness.

The press release states: “That journey through Teddy’s mind is going take some serious reflection and help from an unexpected source: the stories and advice of his mother, whom he had never known.” Proxy’s interactive simulators bring Teddy’s mother stories to life, giving him new skills that are essential for exploring his mind. Teddy learns the importance of his family, how to connect, and what the role of the mind is in becoming a young, responsible man.

Smith, founder of Inevitable Studios, is also the game director for Always in Mind. This is Smith’s first game and represents his team’s desire to provide authentic and positive experiences that the world desperately needs. By combining powerful narrative themes and intuitive controls with deep action-oriented gaming, we invite all gamers to experience mind-bending and heartwarming experiences that they will cherish and discuss for years to follow.

It’s not known when we can expect to see Always in Mind. However, it is available on Steam right now (and a Kickstarter will be coming shortly).
