Age of Empires IV’s The Sultans Ascend Expansion Is Available for Pre-order Now!

Only a couple of weeks ago, we announced an expansion to the popular game Age of Empires III – The Ascendance of the Sultans – would be coming soon. Today we’re thrilled to let our PC and Xbox console players around the world know that they’ll be able to play this exciting new content on November 14! Now is the time to pre-order for those who want to remove The Sultans’ Ascend off their wishlist, and count down until November 14!

We’ve been slowly revealing what you can expect from The Sultans Ascend since our announcement and today can share the full package coming on November 14:

• New 8-mission campaign
• 2 new civilizations: Japanese & Byzantines
• There are 4 different civilizations.
• Ten new maps
• Two new biomes
• New unlockable rewards

The new Age of Empires IIIThe single-player campaign is set in the Middle East, during the European Crusades. You’ll take on the role of the Muslim resistance to the invasion and follow the story of well-known Muslim leaders, their struggles with the Crusaders, and the battles they fought. The story starts with the First Crusade, at the turn of the 11th Century. At this time the Muslim provinces were riven by rivalry. Crusaders use this to sweep along the Levantine coastline, seizing major cities as well as Jerusalem. They then control most of Holy Land. The Holy Orders of Templars and Hospitallers as well as the Teutons will be fought by players, along with their old enemies, the Mongols. The Sultans’ Ascend It is the first Age of Empires IIICampaign will include naval gameplay This battle takes place on land as well as at sea.

As well as a new campaign, by popular demand, we’re bringing two exciting new civilizations to the game. You can take command of either the Japanese or Byzantines. Every civilization has its own unique units and landmarks. The Japanese Civilization tells the tale of the Samurai era and features Shinobi special units that are used for assassination and espionage. Byzantines is based on the Eastern Roman Empire, which lasted for over 1,000 years. The players will have the ability to construct aqueducts, cisterns as well as harvest new resources and hire mercenaries.

We’re also adding re-imagined variants of four existing civilizations, with exciting new heroes, units, and strategies. These new Variant Civilizations will be available for the Abbasid Dynasty as well as Chinese, French, and Holy Roman Empire. Players will also have new options to enjoy their favorite civilizations.

The Sultans Ascend also introduces 10 unique maps. The maps are meticulously created to provide a variety of strategic terrain and layouts. You’ll need to adapt your tactics to conquer diverse environments and emerge victorious.
