A Game About Sonic Being Murdered Is Really Popular Right Now

Sega published a game for April Fool’s Day in which the company did the impossible: it killed Sonic. Sega’s beloved hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog has been murdered. This visual novel is available on Steam for free. This is the description from the publisher. 

Amy Rose turns 50 today and is throwing a murder mystery on the Mirage Express. Everybody is eager to solve the mystery when Sonic the Hedgehog falls prey to the game. There is however something a bit strange about this game. Could it be an innocent one or something much more sinister?

Surprisingly the game is very well-liked. The following is a statement by Sonic social media manager Katie Chrzanowski (via GameSpot), more one million people have played the game. It’s the currently 61st most-reviewed Steam game, according to some reports. GameSpot points out, the best-rated Sonic game on Steam (though that’s not the highest margin to clear, all things considered). As of this writing, The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog has over 11,000 user reviews on Steam, netting it an “Overwhelmingly Positive” ranking. The game can be viewed right now. 

This all just goes to show – the world wants Sonic dead.
