Destiny 2: The Witch Queen’s Legendary campaign will offer boosted gear
Apart from Void 3.0 and weapon crafting a large campaign is a major selling point. Destiny 2’s upcoming The Witch Queen expansion. For the first time, players can play this campaign at a harder difficulty starting day 1. Bungie shared the reasons why they thought players would choose the higher difficulty and revealed six Exotic armor items that are coming with the expansion.
A preview of The Witch Queen last week, we were able to watch Bungie play the second mission of the expansion’s campaign. New “major encounters” offer loads of enemies that drop chests at the end. These encounters can drop up to two chests on Legendary. This gives players more bang per buck and allows them to be used as a bonus mission.
Players will be able to swap between Legendary and Normal difficulties between missions without having to re-complete parts of the campaign, meaning Guardians can adjust on the fly depending on how they’re feeling. Players will receive even more rewards if they complete the campaign at a higher difficulty.
You can beat them The Witch QueenLegendary campaign will award an emblem. A Triumph player will require a Title for the location, materials and some mystery Bungie rewards. The Witch QueenArmor Exotics are available for each class. The most intriguing part is a set 1520 Power armor.
1500 Power is the “soft cap” in The Witch Queen, meaning that’s as high as players can get from random world drops and blue items. Anything higher will need to be powerful or pinnacle drop. Players will begin The Witch Queen at 1350, they’ll need a lot of drops to reach 1500, and normal campaign players won’t hit the cap by the campaign’s end, according to Bungie in our preview.
So while the Legendary campaign will definitely take longer to complete, it’s worth it for players looking to level up their gear fast, as not only does it send players to the soft cap ASAP, but it also gives an additional 20 levels otherwise limited by weekly powerful drops. For players looking to raid on March 5, Legendary is looking to be mandatory — or at least very efficient.
But Bungie also tells players not to fear, as the Legendary campaign isn’t insurmountable. It’s harder than a Legend Nightfall but easier than soloing a three-player dungeon or running a Grandmaster Nightfall. It also scales based on your party, so solo players shouldn’t be deterred. And for those hoping to run the normal campaign to get some loot and then run Legendary, bad news: the missions are level capped, meaning you can’t over-level to give yourself an advantage.
Bungie provided additional details about the six new armor Exotics that are coming in, outside of the campaign. The Witch Queen. Each class will get one Stasis Exotic and one non-Stasis Exotic — it’s currently unclear if the Exotic armor drop from the Legendary campaign is fixed or random.
Titans can get the HoarfrostZ Exotic chestpiece, which transforms their Barricade to a wall with Stasis Crystals. Loreley Splendor Helm is another Titan Exotic. This allows Sun Warrior Sunspots for healing players. When you are critically injured, it will also create a Sunspot.
Osmiomancy Gauntlets will be given to Warlocks for their Stasis Exotic. This adds an extra charge for Coldsnap Grenades. Secant Filaments are another Warlock Exotic. These legs grant Devour upon casting an Empowering Rift and offer healing after kills.
The Renewal Grasps gauntlets will be available to Hunters. This gives Stasis Duskfield grenades a wider aura, and lowers the damage caused by enemies who are trapped within. Blight Ranger Helm, another Hunter Exotic, increases damage and Orbs of Power when reflecting projectiles using the Arc Staff.
It’s been a big week for Destiny 2Bungie intends to take a step back on the news front, between now February 22 and February 22, according to this report.
