Warcraft mobile version coming in 2022, says Blizzard

Activision announced that Blizzard Entertainment will launch Warcraft on mobile devices by 2022 in its quarterly earnings release. This news release was not part of the traditional call with analysts and investors.

Details are light, but Blizzard is working on “substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022,” which includes “all-new mobile Warcraft content.” It also means “new experiences in World of Warcraft And Hearthstone.”

The only Mobile Presence for Warcraft that is more than 25 Years Old (with an MMO older than 15 years) has been in In. Hearthstone. This free-to play game was released on iOS devices in April 2014. It also launched for Android at the end 2014 But Hearthstone It is an action-RPG experience that is completely different than the card-collection games. World of Warcraft or the actual-time strategy for the three Warcraft titles.

Thursday’s news is intriguing considering Blizzard announced Diablo ImmortalIn 2018, Blizzard launched a mobile-version of the action-RPG game franchise. It was scheduled to debut sometime this year. Blizzard had announced in August that it would delay the release of its mobile action-RPG franchise until 2022, to allow for feedback from technical alpha testers who were conducted between December 2020 and spring 2021.

Diablo Immortal’s 2018 announcement was widely panned by diehard fans, who felt tricked by teasers for a major game only to be stuck with a lesser version of the dungeon crawler on phones.

The fact it’s taken so long to come to market hasn’t helped the game’s reputation either. Blizzard appears to have taken lessons from the episode and waited for Warcraft Mobile Game’s completion before revealing it to a smaller audience.
