What if Breath of the Wild had an air dash

Sometimes, the most humble of groups can create the greatest of worlds. Tovenaar Games is just two people. But in the game they play, BattleSage, you’ll zoom through its stunning world at a dizzying pace. This style reminds me of both The Legend of Zelda – Breath of the WildStudio Ghibli animation style. You can also see the animation style of Studio Ghibli. BattleSage, you’ll get fly through the skies alongside giant air blimps and the rest of its magical world.

Soaring sages are among us. Cool WIP, Polygon’s weekly roundup of eye-catching clips, and screenshots of works in progress. To give you a sampling of the best up-and coming projects, Polygon’s staff searches the Internet for new and interesting games.

This week we also have a level designer that speed runs game development itself, a game with graphics inspired by children’s books, a witchy farming sim, and a foreboding forest beast, to top it all off.

The Battle Sage takes you to the sky with your adventures

Tovenaar Games’ BattleSageIt’s like you placed a jetpack onto Link. Take a deep breath of the wild. The clip is from one of the developers shows the main character running around the environment, bursting and dashing through the world — and even taking to the sky. The game looks very convenient! The game is in its earlier stages of development, but you can check the team’s work on the studio’s Twitter account.

An experienced level designer is amazed at what he can accomplish in less than half an hour.

Oliver William Walker, a level designer and creator on TikTok makes levels in 30 minutes. Video games are labor-intensive and time-consuming. So it’s interesting to see just what’s possible in such a short period of time. We see the TikTok creator create a glowing red globe inspired by a giant. It’s moody, atmospheric, and fun to see what a level looks like from the developer’s perspective. His other work can also be found on TikTok.

Children’s illustrations come to life in this puzzle game

What to Say Goodbye? This puzzle game allows you to rearrange objects to allow ghosts to leave to another place. You can also play A GIF posted by one of the developers shows one of its whimsical levels — which is designed with hues of pink and purple, and looks like an assortment of random food items on a table. I love the animated ghosts wriggling under objects. This game was created by Florian Veltman, Baptiste Portefaix as well as ARTE France. It will be out sometime in 2022.

Sim for witchy farming

Kitori Academy, a sim that allows you to cultivate crops and make potions, is operated by Cubenary. Cubenary’s developers posted a clipA new character has been introduced: A frog who happens to also be the headmaster. From what the developers have shown, it’s a bright, colorful game with cartoonish elements fit for its magical world. The game is early in development, so there’s no release date but you can follow updates on the game’s Steam page.

The brush is enchanted as a cursed beast trots about

The developer captured a magical moment in the WIP “The Sacred Moment”. We Kill Monsters. In one clipA crouching figure is seen watching a strange creature in the woods. This large, peaceful creature appears to be a demonic stag but it also walks in peace through the woods. If you’re interested in seeing more, Glass Revolver has plenty of other clips showing off gameplay on their Twitter account.
