Generation Zero Now Available with Xbox Game Pass

Hello everyone! I’m Zach Zebrowski, Product Owner at Systemic Reaction, and I’m here to welcome you to Generation Zero and the world of Östertörn! 

How do you define it? Generation Zero?

But first, let’s talk a little about the game for those of you who are joining us for the first time. Set in an alternative 1980s Sweden in the region of Östertörn, you’ll explore atmospheric and mysterious environments while engaging in first-person guerilla action against hostile machine invaders. Where did they all come from? But what is their purpose? And where have all of the human beings gone? That’s for you to figure out as you scavenge for weapons and equipment to fight them back alongside an ever-growing Resistance.

Looking back on 2020

Since our last Wire Post, we’ve not only had our second anniversary but also added a lot to the game and the core experience, in no small part thanks to the feedback and input of our fantastic community.

Generation ZeroFNIX Rising, a massive expansion of the site that was launched last summer. For those who love to engage with the story, this DLC takes deeper dives into the lore of Östertörn. You will discover more about FNIX by adding new characters to the mix, and exploring new structures around the map. A new boss was introduced by the Reaper Rival, which everyone can hunt down to get some great loot. The U.S. weapon DLC was also dropped into the game to add some new weapons to the arsenal.

Resistance Update

The 2021 year began with some brand new features. We continue our work alongside the dedicated community to build a solid foundation.

In February Assignments were launched, providing more opportunities for players who want to use blasters for their daily activities. There is a lot more in store for these, and we’re looking forward to being able to show those to you soon!

The Resistance Update was a significant milestone for the team, marking a new direction for our plans and the fighters in Östertörn! Base Building is a repetitive horde mission that will help you get all the rare loot and ammo you want. These new loads were made available with the Soviet Weapons DLC.

Look forward

Many updates have been released over the last 2 years. We couldn’t have done it without your continued support. Not only because they love to spend time in the world of Östertörn, but they also love to stay engaged with everyone developing Generation Zero!

Since a while, the Resistance Update has been in development. Base building had long been a much-requested feature to add to our ongoing battle with the machines, and this defense mission is just the start of what we have in store for the future of Östertörn.

These building blocks are the basis of the direction the game will take in the future. Our goal is to continue to grow and expand our features, lore and world, so that our players will return time and again.

In 2019, we hope to have millions more people join us. Generation Zero! Xbox Games Pass’s inclusion allows us to expand the community as well as give more options for playing together using crossplay between Xbox 10 and Xbox.
