Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition Unplayable On PC As Rockstar Games Launcher Remains Down

If you purchased Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, you’re not actually able to play it at the moment because the Rockstar Games Launcher is down and has been down for nearly 20 hours.

First reported by IGN, Rockstar’s own game launcher went down about 18 hours ago and because that’s how PC players must access the trilogy, they aren’t able to play their new games. Rockstar has also pulled the trilogy from sale on PC so if you don’t already own it, it’s not something you can purchase at the moment.

“Services for the Rockstar Games Launcher and supported titles are temporarily offline for maintenance,” the official Rockstar Support Twitter accountTweeted yesterday. “Services will return as soon as maintenance is completed.”

Rockstar Support tweeted out an update14 hours following the initial tweet maintenance was still taking place and launcher still was not up. There’s been no update since then at the time of this writing.

Other than needed “maintenance,” Rockstar has not formally announced exactly what’s wrong or what’s going on with trilogy. It could be that something was wrong at the launcher, or in the code for the PC version. Rockstar should update the players with information about what occurred when Rockstar’s game returns online.

Check out the entire track list in the trilogy while you wait. Then, read the story about Rockstar’s technical difficulties that forced them to eliminate a couple of the cheats. This story explains how San Andreas was developed after Oculus Quest 2.
