Forza Motorsport: The Ultimate Racing Game for Car Lovers – Out Now and Included with Game Pass

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to visit one of the largest private automobile collections in the world, and as you might expect, the biggest names in the industry were on display – everything from Ferrari and Lamborghini to Jaguar and Bugatti. It even included some of the earliest and rarest American muscle cars like the Yenko Camaro and Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda convertible. The experience was a bit overwhelming, standing there amidst such pristine and treasured cars, knowing most of them were built with a similar purpose – to go fast, but ultimately sharing the same fate – they never would.
It is this passion that makes me a car enthusiast. Forza MotorsportSo special to me. Realistically, I’ll never drive a Bugatti XJ220 or Jaguar XJ220. Racetrack. When you are going 200+ miles per hours. It’s raining. The rain. Forza MotorsportI am! As much as I enjoy fun games and fast cars, today’s game is something I had been anticipating all year. Forza MotorsportThe game I’m most looking forward to in 2023 is available for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.
Cars. Cars. And More Cars
I don’t know what is more impressive, the fact Forza MotorsportTurn 10 Studios is regularly adding more. The oldest vehicle in the collection is nearly 100 years old. Forza Motorsport being the 1926 Bugatti Type 35 and the newest being the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, which is one of this year’s cover cars.
You can drive any car in the Free Play Mode (for free, though you won’t earn Car XP). If you’d like to drive a 1981 Ford Fiesta XR2, that is possible. The most expensive car in the game (currently), the Koenigsegg Jesto, is also available. For my first car, I went with a 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that I’ve had a bit of experience driving. I then moved onto the 2021 Rimac Nevera – the electric hypercar dubbed as the “fastest car in the World”. The car is fast and, with its lack of gas engine sound, is also somewhat eerie as you speed down the track. It is not difficult to find a vehicle that you like if you enjoy cars the same way I do. Forza Motorsport. I can’t guarantee you will have an easy time settling on which one to purchase first.
Let’s Go Racing
You can’t have a great racing game without having great places to go racing, and Forza Motorsport There are more tracks to come. The iconic Grand Prix Nürburgring circuit is included, as is the ever-popular Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. Lime Rock Park is one of my favorites. I just like the layout and how you can let out of the throttle and roll through most of the turns without having to get on the brakes too hard (and it doesn’t have any of those deceptive turns that sneak up on you).
All the tracks feel real. Before you head to the pits, grab a hotdog and a shirt from a trailer selling merch. Dynamic time-of the-day, weather conditions, and different driving conditions add to the real-world feel. It was obvious that the game would include it, but I was surprised by the variety of possible scenarios. The ten Time of Day choices range from dawn to night, with even more options for weather. You can select whether you want your rain as a light drizzle or a full-on thunderstorm. The variables you choose will affect how tracks feel and look, which will ultimately impact your performance and that of other racers. In several rainy sessions I would stop and listen to the raindrops on my windshield while I pondered life’s meaning (actually, I was looking for the wiper button).
The Race is Yours, with Whomever You Like
Turn 10 Studios always put accessibility first. Forza Motorsport’sIt is being praised for its accessibility. The team deserves praise for making the game so accessible. Forza MotorsportFor players with all levels of skill, we have created a racing platform which caters for novice racecar drivers to those who want the most immersive and realistic racing experience. You can make a rewarding and challenging racing experience by fine-tuning the driving assistance and difficulty settings according to your level. With the Risk vs Reward option, you can select your grid position to see your projected podium finish. Starting out on the 10ThThe leader was catching me within a few races, so I tried to get a little deeper into the race each time to earn more Car XP.
As you race, you will earn Car XP, and you can use this to upgrade and tune your car by selecting from more than 800 performance upgrades – including fuel and air systems, engine, platform and handling, tires and wheels, and drivetrain. Buying parts is expensive. Using Car XP allows you to experiment with different setups. If you’d rather race your car than fiddle with it, then you can choose the Quick Upgrade. The game will tune the setup for you.
You can choose to race in single player free play mode or career mode. You can also race in any of the online multiplayer matches including private ones. You can combine the two by playing the Rivals Mode, in which you compete against the ghosts to see who has the fastest time on the leaderboards. It’s a great way to see where you stand against other racers, without actually having to compete with them. I really enjoyed the Rivals mode because it’s not only a fun and competitive experience, but it is also a great learning aid to see the cars and settings the faster drivers are using and what line they are taking through the turns.
Let’s Have a Clean Race
I’m sure that I’m not the only person who (accidentally), took a shortcut, used the retaining walls to slingshot around turns and pinballed other cars in my race to get to the front. Forza Motorsport implements new features and even incentivizes skillful driving to assist you in becoming the best racecar driver you can be…and it is working because I find myself looking at this feedback each lap to improve the next.
Each track is divided into Track Segments and your performance through each of these scoring loops is evaluated and displayed on screen providing you with immediate feedback. Plus, you are rewarded with Car XP based on your performance, so there is an extra incentive to do well. You will also receive Car XP for regular on-track activities like passing cars and improving on previous Track Segment times. Additionally, you can be penalized with time penalties for illegal passes and running off the track for an extended period.
Don’t worry, you will still have “pass in the grass” moments like Dale Earnhardt did at Charlotte Motor Speedway All-Star Race back in 1987 and you can still lean on cars and trade a little paint as you navigate those tight turns, but I applaud Turn 10 for implementing creative ways to inspire clean, competitive racing.
