A new policy on storing captured game footage, and a simple way to backup them

Starting today we’re updating the way the Xbox network retains game captures. The Xbox network will delete game captures after 90-days. Follow the instructions in our article Back up your clip to back up clips and screenshots that you want to save indefinitely. You can double-check your status by using the Captures App to look at your stored game captures on Xbox.

Alongside this new retention approach, we’re making it easier than ever to back up all your game captures to either OneDrive or an external storage device of your choice.

The Xbox console lets you move, bulk upload, and manage where to store captured videos. Press the button to do this. XboxThen, click the “” button. My games & apps >All the information you need to know about your vehicle >Apps > Captures. You’ll see a “Tell me more” button where you can get started. You’ll also be able to set up future captures to automatically back up to OneDrive so you never have to wonder if everything is backed up.

You can create video clips of the best gaming moments you have captured and save them to OneDrive using the Microsoft Clipchamp video editing software. Trim, crop and add effects like text or transitions. You can then easily share your videos with friends, followers, and family.

Discover events related to your favourite games 

Now it’s easier than ever to discover in-game events and new content that’s being launched for the games you love. From the top of Home, scroll down, and you’ll see the new Events channel that will show live and upcoming events. You can also click directly on the event to see all its details.

Set up your Xbox faster by finding popular apps

We’re making it easier for players to find and download popular apps when setting up a new console. Now when you set up a new console either from the Xbox mobile app or directly on the console, you’ll get the option to download popular apps like Apple Music, AppleTV, Crunchyroll, Disney+, Hulu, Movies & TV, Peacock, Spotify, and Tubi. Downloading apps during setup saves you time later—your favorite apps will be ready to go when you are. Subscriptions are sometimes required.
