Final Fantasy 5 Pixel Remaster Gets November Launch Date
The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series is a remastered collection of the first six Final Fantasy games. Square Enix chose to release the three first games simultaneously and then drop the second half separately. Final Fantasy IV arrived in September and now it’s time for the fifth entry to return to the spotlight.
Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster will be available on Steam and for mobile devices starting November 10. Similar to the other games, this version features updated pixels, modernized gameplay, menus, and soundtracks by Nobuo Uematsu. It also includes goodies like a bestiary, illustrations gallery, and more. Final Fantasy V originally launched in Japan in 1992 but didn’t reach the U.S. until 1999’s Final Fantasy Anthology for PlayStation 1. Most notable is the introduction of a more flexible job system, which allowed for greater party customization. This was later adopted by other Final Fantasy games.
The FFV Pixel Remaster is normally priced at $17.99 but can be purchased for just $14.39. Those who pre-order it receive two wallpapers and timelapse remixes of three in-game songs: “The Main Theme,” “Battle at Big Bridge,” and “A New World.” If you’d rather purchase all six games at once, the bundle for that currently sits at a discounted price of $74.82.
Looking at the release cadence of Final Fantasy IV and V, it’s probably safe to assume that the legendary Final Fantasy VI will arrive sometime in perhaps late December or January.
