Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages released on Switch Online
As foretold when Nintendo Switch Online’s Game Boy collection was launched back in February, the subscription service has just added the handheld console’s matched pair of Zelda games from 2001: Oracle of Ages, The Legend of Zelda You can also find out more about the following: Oracle of Seasons.
In a unique feature of the Zelda franchise, both games launch simultaneously and can interact. Complete one, and you can use a password to unlock a different version of the other, expanded to play like a sequel, with a new ending linking their plots — whichever order you played them in.
Originally, developer Flagship — a Capcom subsidiary that went on to make the much-loved Game Boy Advance Zelda game The Minish Cap — had planned for a trilogy of games that linked in this way, but that proved to be too much work. Unlike the paired Pokémon releases that doubtless inspired them, each OracleGame is a completely different adventure that uses the Game Boy framework, but it’s not a copy. Link’s Awakening.
Oracle of AgesLink is taken to Labrynna where he obtains the Harp of Ages that allows him to move through time. The game is a homage to the classic videogame. Oracle of SeasonsThe green hero travels on to Holodrum to use the Rod of Seasons. He can then switch from summer to fall to winter to spring. It’s also worth noting that the Oracle games’ version of Link is canonically the third best hang of all the Links.
