Batman: Mask of the Phantasm 4K Blu-ray pre-order info

Batman: Mask of the PhantasmThe 1993 animated film that was released in theaters (and which is one of the author’s favorites) has been remastered on 4K Blu-ray. It’s available for pre-order right now at several retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart, and it’ll launch on Sept. 12. The pre-order costs $33.99 (except for Target, where it’s $26.99), and it comes with the 4K UHD Blu-ray disc as well as a digital code to watch the film on other devices. The PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and other 4K Blu ray players can view this type of disc.

Mask of Phantasm ranks highly on Polygon’s list of the best Batman films, sandwiched between Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and Tim Burton’s Batman Returns. In case you haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, it’s a stunning movie that builds off the look and voice cast of the ’90s animated series (BThe Animated Series: AtmanThe same as the previous one, but in a darker tonality.

Remastered in 4K HDR/SDR, the movieBatman: Mask of the PhantasmThe scans were sourced from the original cut camera negative of 1993 and scanned in 4K resolution. The 4K scans were digitally restored to remove scratches, dirt and other anomalies. Special care was taken to avoid touching the film grain, or animation cel dust, which was part of original artwork. It is being presented for the first time in 1.85 aspect since its release on theaters. Remastered versions of the original 2.0 and 5.1 mixes were created to improve or remove defects like pops, clicks, dropouts, and distortion.

Warner Bros. has announced there are other options to enjoy the remastered film version, such as the digital format. Digitally, it will be $14.99 on Amazon Prime Video and other digital platforms such as Apple TV, Google Play or Vudu.
