New TV this week: Netflix’s The Witcher, an Idris Elba thriller, & more

This week on TV, all is fair in love and war — at least as far as new seasons of Jack Ryan’s The Bachelorette The following are some examples of how to get started: The Witcher Are concerned. There is also another feature this week. Strange New Worlds episode that Trekkies won’t want to miss (if you can afford to miss any of the best modern Star Trek show): Christina Chong’s La’an gets teleported to an alternate reality and has to team up with Kirk (Paul Wesley) to get the timelines back on track. They are sent back in classic Trek style to the 21st Century (what is the chance?).

Geralt is back — as is Henry Cavill, for his final season as the titular Witcher. There are new struggles in the third season, as well, with mages combining and new, freaky creatures.

Muscles & Mayhem: An Unauthorized Story of American Gladiators

Genre: Documentary

Cast: Features interviews with Nitro, Diamond, Sky, Ice (Lori Fetrick), Zap and Zap Olson.

Netflix looks at the history of American Gladiators, the ’90s show where amateur athletes compete against each other in feats of agility and strength. Muscles & Mayhem will interview the athletes themselves, charting the rise and fall of the ’90s program and all the triumphs and struggles that came with it.

Do you remember that time during the Pandemic, when people cut through everyday items to reveal they were hyper-realistic cakes instead? It was the basis for a reality series! This is the second season, bringing more chefs back to guess whether the thing they’re looking at is actually cake.

Hijack

Sam Nelson (IdrisElba) just wants to make it home to London. The name of the TV show may give you a hint, but his plane has just been hijacked. At least for us, his plane was hijacked. HijackIt is a taut and entertaining thriller that follows the efforts to control the situation and unravel the mystery as to what the hijackers’ goals are (and for whom they work).

Hulu: New Shows

Bachelorette Season 20

Genre: Real dating
Date of release: June 26 (ABC), June 27 (Streaming on Hulu)
Cast:Charity Lawson, a bunch of men and women who hope they are there for good reasons

The rules are the same: one bachelorette as the title, an assortment of beaus who could be interested, and a bunch of roses for those contestants that get to stay. Will this Bachelorette find her true love? What will the season be like without controversy? Bachelorette creator Mike Fleiss? We’ll (start to) find out on June 26, when the new episode premieres on ABC, dropping on Hulu the next day.

Secret Chef
