Pokémon Stadium Joins Nintendo Switch Online This Month

Pokémon Stadium, the classic 3D battler/minigame collection for the Nintendo 64, just got a Nintendo Switch Online release date. Although the imminent release of the game to online services was first announced in September 2022 at a Nintendo Direct, we now know the date. Pokémon Stadium comes to Nintendo Switch Online Wednesday, April 12. Like all N64 games you will need an expansion pack to be able to play Pokemon Stadium. You can see the complete trailer here.

While some fans may have hoped this port would include trading with Pokémon Home, they’re unfortunately out of luck. The fine print in the trailer specifies that “Pokémon cannot be transferred to this game.” There is a significant improvement to the game: online 4-player multiplayer will now be possible, so that you can enjoy Clefairy Says and Sushi-Go-Round games with your friends from all around.

Although the Nintendo Switch Online expansion pack was slow to start, it has become a more substantial package. The service also added the Game Boy Advance library in February. This included popular titles like The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap and Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga. Metroid Fusion was added to the roster a month later. In the meantime, Metroid Fusion joined the lineup. Check out the complete list to see all retro games available through the service.
