Sonic Frontiers Receives First 2023 Content Update This Week

Sega announced a 2023 roadmap shortly after Sonic Frontiers was launched late last year. This includes three important content releases throughout the year. Sonic Team has now released the first three month-old update to the calendar.

The first 2023 content release is called “Sights, Sounds, and Speed.” It includes content in three different areas. First up, new challenge modes, which can be accessed after you complete the main story campaign, give you access to Cyber Space Challenge and Battle Rush via the title screen. Cyber Space Challenge allows you to play the entire game’s Cyber Space stages quickly and earn the fastest time. Battle Rush applies the same idea to combat scenarios with standard enemies like Guardians or Titans.

Next, the content release introduces photo mode. This is an old favorite feature in open-world gaming. Through the pause menu, players can use the free roaming camera to snap photos like the one shown in the head of the article.

A new in-game music jukebox allows players to access song lyrics while racing through Starfall Islands. There are 13 tracks available instantly and 40 more that can be found through exploring the Starfall Islands. Players can complete their music collection by finding Sound Memories on every island. While the press release only mentions players being able to “listen to their favorite Sonic songs all throughout the Starfall Islands,” the screenshot above seems to indicate the unlockable tracks include classic tracks like “Live & Learn” from Sonic Adventure 2.
