There Are No Plans For The Last Of Us Show To Go Beyond The Games

Don’t expect Last of UsThe HBO series will go beyond just the stories of the games. That’s because The Last of Us game director Neil Druckmann says there are no plans for stories beyond the games in this show.

A new interview by Druckmann with this news brings you the following: The Hollywood ReporterAccording to GameSpot. This is Druckmann’s story. THR Specifically, “We don’t plan to tell stories other than adapting the games.” Since The Last of Us Part: II does not end with a cliffhanger, we won’t face the same problem as Game of Thrones. 

Craig Mazin (TV series writer) and Druckmann have suggested that the show could be renewed for a second episode. I believe The Last of Us Part II might only cover one season of TV. Although the two don’t want the show going beyond games, it is possible for the show could cover additional ground following the events of The Last of Us Part II. Naughty Dog could develop a The Last of Us Part III hypothetical, so it would not be surprising that HBO might cover this. Druckmann stated that the chances are pretty high. THR that there is “more story to tell” in the world of The Last of Us games. 

Mazin expressed his regret at not extending the show to include the games. THR interview, as noted by GameSpot, stating that he doesn’t “have any interest in a spinning-plates-go-on-forever show.” 

“When it turns into a perpetual-motion machine, it just cannot help but become kind of…stupid,” said he. For me, endings are everything.”
