Modern Warfare 2 brings back weapon tuning in new update
Modern Warfare 2: Call of DutyThe game’s first week was full of patches that brought along some issues to solve. This means that the game’s first full week has been full of patches, including one that disabled weapon tuning, another that re-enabled it, and one big patch to help prevent crashes.
Infinity Ward was forced to disallow weapon tuning a few days back by developers. Weapon tuning allows players to more precisely adjust the stats and attachments for their weapons. However, an update Thursday night has restored the functionality of the system and it now works as expected.
Infinity Ward has also issued a Friday patch that fixes a variety of problems that cause crashes across platforms. It should help improve stability. Infinity Ward stated that this update would fix some freezing and framerate issues as well as some cases of lag.
The patch’s overall size is a little odd. According to CharlieIntel on TwitterThe update took less than one gigabyte for PlayStation and PC, but Xbox users received up to 50GBs. It’s not clear why the Xbox version was so big, or what the differences are.
At the moment, it appears that Infinity Ward keeps. Modern Warfare II’s updates focused on performance rather than balance, but balance changes are on the way as well. Inside Friday’s patch notes, the developer explains that it plans to spend the next several weeks monitoring the performance of all of Modern Warfare II’s weapons and will release a big balance patch at the start of the game’s first season.
