Bee and PuppyCat season 2 is finally on Netflix

After many years and multiple delays, as well as some accidental leaks over the years, this cartoon became a cult favourite. Bee and PuppyCat Netflix has it. This includes season 2, which has been awaited for so long.

A long history behind PuppyCat/Bee

Bee and PuppyCatStarted as a web series that was filmed by former Adventure Time character designer Natasha Allegri, with a single two-part episode posted on Frederator Digital’s YouTube channel Cartoon Hangover. Frederator started a Kickstarter campaign in order to make a complete web series. It was at the time the most successful animated Kickstarter campaign in history.

Bee, a bright, cheerful and out-of work twentysomething, follows her adventures as she discovers an unusual hybrid puppy/cat creature. It makes mysterious, chiming sounding sounds. PuppyCat takes Bee on temporary jobs in space while Bee introduces PuppyCat her local friends. The episodes balance exciting space adventures and mundane-but-still-challenging Earth problems. The show is notable for being an adult animated show focusing on grown up characters that doesn’t rely on crass humor or mature content; it’s still approachable to younger audiences, but gives the characters a different set of challenges.

The first four episodes were broadcast in 2014. Bee and PuppyCatThey aired their first six videos on YouTube. They ended up being aired on VRV, a digital aggregation platform two years later. Many fans didn’t even realize new episodes were made. They were eventually uploaded to YouTube in 2018, where they remain until today.

But, it will air in the second season. Bee and PuppyCat are Lazy in SpaceIn 2017, the announcement of ‘, with an eye towards a 2019 release was made. However, delays occurred as Frederator looked for new streaming services and Frederator purchased the series. The studio eventually unveiled the first episode at the Ottawa International Animation Festival — and the full season accidentally leaked on Frederator founder Fred Seibert’s Vimeo channel in early 2020. Naturally, they were quickly removed. Frederator declared that in October 2020. Lazy in Space Netflix will be coming to the US in 2022.

Yes, and no.

Netflix has three new episodes. It’s not a straight up shot-for-shot remake, nor is it entirely new content. Similar beats are present in this second season, such as when Bee gets fired, and PuppyCat drops onto her umbrella on the way home from work. However, there is some expansion.

It was only 10 minutes in length, so it makes perfect sense to compress them into three short episodes. This way, the setup is still there — but with more exposition and some gorgeous updated animation.
