Inkulinati is Coming to Game Preview and Will be Available with Xbox Game Pass!

Hello Xbox fans! Thank you for checking out the game and clicking on the headline. We are glad to have you with us! Let’s start with a brief description of us. Yaza Games is our small studio. Inkulinati – a turn-based strategy in which a rabbit’s bum can be deadlier than a dog’s sword. At Game Design School in Poland we all happened to meet by chance. InkulinatiThis was also our graduation project. It represented the first idea and prototype. This was five years ago. Since then we’ve been building, improving, expanding and polishing Inkulinati, we’ve run a successful Kickstarter campaign, hooked up with Daedalic Entertainment as a publisher and we were able to do something together with Xbox too!  We are now getting ready for slowly bringing you the new Xbox! InkulinatiThe world is our responsibility and we can’t wait for your reaction. But, let’s get back to the basics. We’ll tell you more. Inkulinati itself.

This is the story of InkulinatiThe Game Design School, Warsaw was where I started my journey a few years back. To graduate from our course we needed to make a prototype for a game in the final months. We had no idea, no concept and no clear plan for creating a game. This is the perfect place to be! Although we had many different ideas to choose from, nothing was right. Then, one day our Art Director Dorota, brought a book to class and she showed us these crazy medieval drawings – called “marginalia” – placed on the margins of manuscripts. There were many amazing things we witnessed, including snails eating knights and bunnies wielding swords duelling with dogs. We’d never seen anything like this before, and the more we looked at them, the more all of us got excited. We could feel something magical happen – a sense of electricity started to spark. It was then that we discovered medieval illuminations and marginalia. This was the time we realized what our future game would look like.

Once we have the style, it is time to pick a genre. It was easy. After a few chats we decided to go for  a turn-based strategy genre. It felt right. This allows us to dive deeper into the medieval manuscripts world and suits our readers better than other genres. It was all harmonious. The books felt like two people fighting each other. Even the pace. It felt like we were able to put the pieces together. It was a prototype of a game!

Although we’ve been working on InkulinatiFor a long time the core concepts of the game remain the same. Our game should be authentic to the original medieval European manuscripts, as well as to the stories and world of that time. All the visuals, the world,  as well as the humour is created by monks and scribes hundreds of years ago! We just bought it to a new medium – that of a video game. The other fundamental idea behind our game is for it to be simple to use, but difficult to master. We have many strategic layers we added to our game in order to keep your brain active. Be careful not to be fooled by medieval adorableness!

Our little story of how we made our game is a great way to have fun. InkulinatiIt was born. It all began in 1994.
