Resident Evil 2 & 3 remakes, RE7 get PS5, Xbox Series X updates

Resident Evil 7 biohazardRecent remakes Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 3Capcom, the publisher of these products, announced Monday that they are now available on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. All players who purchased any one of these three products on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will receive a free upgrade within the same family.

Current-generation console upgrades for Resident Evil 3 will now support 4K resolution visuals and higher frame rates. Ray tracing is available on PS5 or Xbox Series X.

The PlayStation 5 versions will make use of the DualSense controller’s advanced haptic feedback. A patch that allows for the same improvements to PC will be made available to all owners.

Resident Evil 2The remake of 1998’s game, “The Game” was launched in January 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. Resident Evil 3Remake of the 1999 nameplate, also launched in April 2020 on the same platforms. Both feature gigantic, unstoppable bad guys (Mr. X in RE2Nemesis RE3() who created a cottage market for humorous substitution mods.

Resident Evil 7 biohazard, launched in 2017, was the first feature-length release to use Capcom’s RE Engine (as did the two subsequent remakes). It’s also the first Resident Evil game to use a fully first-person player perspective.
