Dead by Daylight’s The Dredge: a Beginner’s Guide
The Dredge
From the depths of darkness emerges a terrifying abomination. The Dredge’s black presence robs all hope. The Dredge and its thrilling new Power – Darkness reigns – have come to Daylight makes you dead, introducing a new layer of horror action to The Entity’s Realm.
The Dredge’s Darkness reigns The power of the mind grants you several abilities that are unique, such as The Gloaming. To teleport anywhere on the map using The Gloaming, use The Gloaming. RemnantIt is like a placeholder in the spectral process. The Dredge has serious mobility because there are multiple lockers that can be placed in various locations on any map. Teleportation is not an option. Instead, you can return to your home. Remnant Recover any ground you have lost.

Whether you’re looking to learn The Dredge or increase your chances of survival against it, we’ve got you covered with a few tips and tricks.

These are Three Ways to Play as The Dredge
Teleport Techniques
While The Dredge’s teleportation is an effective means of traversing the map, it can also be used to great effect in a chase. If you see a Survivor running toward an extensive loop – a main building or the Killer’s Shack, for instance – it’s likely there will be a locker close by. You can use your teleportation for predictions. Once you have made them, get out of a locker and take their hair.
Be careful to not spread yourself too thin as the Trial goes on and generators decrease. You should be aware of the number and location of generators on the map. Try to identify which ones you can hold onto. It might be tempting to teleport across the map to protect a lone generator, but that cooldown can prove costly if Survivors take advantage of your absence – especially in the late-game.
Shut down Loops
With a high skill ceiling, the Remnant aspect of The Dredge’s Power allows for plenty of exciting mind games. To effectively stop Survivors from luring you into long loops, strategically plant Remnants at crucial chokepoints.
A Remnant can be placed near a window or pallet to ensure that Survivors have access. If survivors seem to want to run around an area multiple times, be prepared and bring your Remnant. Remember that Survivors have the ability to remove Remnants through direct contact.
The Gloaming
Dredge, which is the manifestation of darkness, thrives in dark environments. Remember that Night Cycle will begin and Survivors are likely to be more confused than you. Keep in mind that you have an advantage over Survivors when you chase them. Areas that they may have been able to successfully navigate before might be difficult for them now.
That’s not to say the Nightfall will guarantee a successful end to your chase – but it’s worth noting that Survivors will have their vision severely hindered. There is no sweeter sight than Survivors running into a wall.
We hope you enjoy playing as The Dredge, and wish you luck in the trials to come…but what happens should you cross its path as an opponent?
Here are three tips to survive the Dredge
The Dredge is an oppressive and disturbing Killer, one that can swiftly darken a Survivor’s day. Only the bravest stand a chance – and new Survivor Haddie Kaur is not lacking in that department.

Haddie Kaur, haunted by terrifying visions from childhood, was determined to confront the terror of other realms. Throughout her journeys to the world’s haunted corners – which she covered extensively on her podcast Ravages of the Abyss – She developed several tools that would help her face this new terrifying threat.
Here are some helpful tips for coping with The Dredge as Haddie, or another Survivor.
Nightfall Management
The excitement of a trial can make it easy for you to lose sight of your HUD. It is important to be attentive to the meters surrounding the character icons when facing the Dredge. It will help you stay one step ahead by knowing the time when your map will begin to darken. Although it may seem like an insignificant suggestion, keeping your HUD watchful could make the difference between life or death. Certain areas are prone to darkening.
Look out for signs
Should you find yourself pursued by The Dredge, you may opt to beeline for the closest loop, main building, or Killer’s Shack. The Dredge could teleport from a nearby locker, cutting you off. Keep an eye on its arm – if you see it rise, The Dredge is in the process of charging its power, so be on guard a teleportation play. It’s also wise to observe lockers for signs of its presence, as The Dredge leaves subtle visual and sound clues while inside of one.
Keep an eye on those locks
The Dredge is able to teleport around the map. However, it can be slowed down by placing a lock at a Locker Door. Doing so will delay The Dredge’s exit, as it will take several seconds for the lock to be destroyed. You might be tempted to increase security during the first part of an event. Match, butRemember that Lockers can only be locked one time. If The Dredge smashes every lock by a trial’s halfway point, you may be facing a challenging endgame.
