New trailer for Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga introduces a fan favorite

The next season will feature a new clip The Winx Saga: Fate Introduces the animated character that is a favorite of fans. Earth fairy Flora makes her live action debut, played by Paulina Chávez. This clip shows her sneaking up to Terra, her earth fairy friend, and performing some Poison Ivy-esque, plant magic.

Fate: A Winx SagaThis is the gritty, dark version of Winx ClubIt’s an animated Italian cartoon from 2004. The original animated show was more focused on friendship but the live-action show focuses much more on the trauma caused by war’s generational effects. Abigail Cowen, a fire fairy, finds herself at Alfea Academy. There, she learns with other fairies from across the Otherworld. In the name of protecting her next generation, she discovers some dark secrets the Academy keeps from Bloom.

There was a lot of outrage last season about whitewashing the characters. Specifically the casting decisions for Musa (played by Elisha Applebaum in the show), who is supposed to be East Asian, and Terra — whom everyone assumed was the Latina-coded Flora — ended up drawing some criticism.

The Winx Saga: Fate Netflix is expected to make a comeback in Fall 2022.
