Critical Role and Dimension 20 are crossing the streams with new series

Critical Role will debut a new mini-series about actual plays on May 26th. This series will have guest stars of Dimension 20. Exandria Unlimited: Calamity The Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan will lead the group, along with Marisha Ray and Aabria Iyengar. The storyline takes place over 1,000 years before the events of the troupe’s first campaign, and requires no previous knowledge of existing characters or previous events according to a news release.

The Exandria Unlimited series began in June 2021 with Iyengar in the DM’s chair, kicking off the #SummerofAabriaThis saw her storytelling skills used in a variety of actual theatre troupes. In 2004, the spin-off series was continued. Exandria Unlimited: Kymal, which further cemented actor Robbie Daymond’s Dorian Storm in the universe’s canon. However, these series weren’t as relevant to the main plotline in the mainline Critical Role campaigns. Calamity will roll back the clock to tell an important tale from the world’s history.

The official website explains that the Calamity is a war that was started by an individual who tried to attain godhood. That conflict eventually led to the loss of “two-thirds of Exandrian life.”

The series follows six heroes as they uncover an insidious corruption beneath a city that they’ve sworn to protect. This is a story where Exandria’s greatest minds could not — or would not — see the truth before it was too late. These mighty protectors will do everything in their power in an attempt to prevent the inevitable … The Calamity.

Lou Wilson, an actor-writer and veteran of several Dimension 20 campaigns, currently writes for Jimmy Kimmel LiveLuis Carazo (actor), whom many fans admire LA At NightWillingham, who was Nines Rodrigo’s leader; as well as Critical Role members Sam Riegel et Travis Willingham.

Exandria Unlimited: CalamityTwitch, YouTube and YouTube will broadcast the program Thursdays at 7 pm PDT starting May 26. The video-on demand version arrives Mondays on YouTube. To receive the content quicker, subscriptions can also be purchased. Critical Role’s Camp 3It will resume June 30.
