Watch The Godfather movies on Paramount Plus

Starring Miles Teller as Paramount Pictures producer Albert S. Ruddy, the 10-episode series chronicles the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s Italian American crime drama The Godfatheramid controversy, setbacks and constant conflict.

I’m confident I don’t have to explain to anyone reading an entertainment site what The GodfatherThis is true, and I do not need to underline how important it has had an influence on Hollywood filmmaking since 1972. What you may be wondering, though, and what I’m perfectly happy to answer, is why the Godfather films, which are frequently heralded as some of the greatest American films ever produced, were ever made unavailable to stream in the first place. It’s both easy and complex to answer that question.

This year marks 50 years since the original Godfather film was released. In celebration, three of these films were given a theatrical release at Dolby Cinemas throughout the U.S., on February 25, 2015. Francis Ford Coppola was the director of the film’s recent 4K transfer. He even went as far to reedit the divisive script. Partie IIITo get closer to his original vision.

The Godfather trilogy’s inaccessibility to streaming was caused by the 50th Anniversary theatrical run. However, it was not intended to commercially undercut the Godfather 4K restorations. These were available for purchase on March 22. You can now stream these movies from your home, after the 50th anniversary celebrations have ended.
