Splatoon 3 Gets September Launch Date In New Gameplay Trailer

Nintendo revealed a gameplay trailer for Splatoon 3 – a third-person, multiplayer ink shooter. The video shows that Splatoon 3 will debut in just five months. 

Nintendo also revealed that Splatoon 3 would be coming to Switch in September. The news was accompanied by a four minute trailer that showcases some Turf War gameplay. If you’re familiar with Splatoon, you know what you’re getting with this trailer, but this new gameplay showcases not only the visual upgrade Splatoon 3 has received (in comparison to Splatoon 2), but some of the new weapons and mechanics as well.

It features over three minutes of Turf War gameplay. This mode is one of the most popular in the Splatoon series. Two opposing teams are required to ink as many areas as possible. When the timer expires, the winner is the team that has used the most ink to cover the battlefield. 

“Splatoon 3’s online 4v4 Turf War battles can create heated matches across a mix of new and returning stages, where teams of four face off to cover the most ground in their ink,” a press release reads. “Newly uncovered footage provides insight on one of these new stages, Eeltail Alley, along with a look at the stringer – a new bow-shaped weapon type that enables you to sling ink sideways and vertically.” 

Nintendo announced today that Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers will be able to play Splatoon 2 DLC Octo Expansion online starting today. 

“In the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion DLC, you play as Agent 8, an Octoling who awakens without her memories on a dark subway platform,” the press release reads. “Navigate a mysterious underground test facility in this adventure that spans 80 missions packed with challenges you won’t find in the main game. Escape from these twisted depths, and you’ll be able to join multiplayer matches as your very own Octoling.” 

It is only a glimpse of Splatoon 3 multiplayer. However, it will include a story campaign as well as Salmon Run (a cooperative wave-based mode). This Splatoon 3 trailer reveals that mammals have reemerged after this. Splatoon 3 is coming to the Switch in September with a price of $59.99.
