Netflix’s Choose or Die trailer: Asa Butterfield vs. an evil video game

Netflix’s new horror movie is all about a demonic retro game that unleashes a terrible curse. It’s part JumanjiPart Hunter x Hunter’s Greed Island arc, part Netflix’s very own Black Mirror BandersnatchThere was a lot of shouting and glowing green screens.

Choose or DieA young programmer discovers a retro text-based game that she can beat to claim the top prize. But she soon discovers that it is no ordinary game — it’s a cursed game (and fittingly, it is called CURS>RIt is eerily similar to real life, and the decisions she has to make soon turn out to be deadly. As the saying goes, “If you die in the video game, you will definitely die in real-life.”

On April 15, the movie will premiere on Netflix. Word’s out on whether or not there will be an accompanying Netflix interactive element to go with it; Polygon has reached out to Netflix for clarification.
