Netflix Buys Mobile Developer Boss Fight Entertainment
Netflix announced the acquisition of Boss Fight Entertainment (a third mobile game developer) according to The New York Times.
Boss Fight Entertainment, headquartered in Allen Texas, has 130 employees in Austin and Seattle. The Dungeon Boss strategy role-playing game is its most successful title. The team includes veteran gamers who have worked on Star Wars: The Old Republic and Age of Empires. Netflix did not disclose the amount it paid for this studio.
Netflix began slowly buying up developers in September last year to increase its market share. The company bought Next Games, a Finnish mobile game developer for $72 million earlier in the month. Netflix plans to adapt a wide range of videogames, in addition to expanding its IP into gaming. Netflix recently revealed plans to make a Bioshock film and create a Resident Evil TV series. The Cuphead Show will be renewed by the company for a second series.
