Update: Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp Delayed Again, New Release Date Not Announced

Update, 3/9/22:

Nintendo has delayed Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp indefinitely. 

Re-Boot Camp was delayed from 2021 to Spring 2022, before Nintendo announced during Nintendo Direct February that the remake would be available on Switch in April 8. Now, Nintendo of Europe has revealed in a new tweet that Re-Boot Camp has been delayed again “in light of recent world events,” likely alluding to Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Re-Boot Camp being a game that deals with war it is no surprise Nintendo has not felt comfortable releasing the title at this point. If necessary, this delay allows the team to continue working on the game.

Nintendo didn’t announce any new Re-Boot Camp releases. The conflict in Ukraine could cause delays to Re-Boot camp’s release. It is not logical to give a new release date, as it is impossible to predict how long this real-life conflict might last.

After suffering a delay from its original December 2021 release, today’s Nintendo Direct confirmed that Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp arrives on April 8. 

This collection bundles rebuilt versions of Advance Wars 1 and 2 that feature new 3D graphics and, as announced today, full voice-acting. In addition to conquering rival armies in the game’s two campaigns, you can also create your own stages using a map editor or take on up to three other players in Versus Mode +.

E3 2021 saw the game’s first public announcement. Advance Wars was praised on Game Boy Advance by its steller approach to turn-based strategies, however the series was put on hold during the Nintendo DS era. Re-Boot Camp is a chance to make a larger return for this beloved strategy franchise.
