An official Marvel Zombies board game is blowing up Kickstarter

A Kickstarter campaign for Marvel Zombies — a spin-off, Marvel-licensed version of the popular Zombicide tabletop game — has raised over $3.65 million since it hit the crowdfunding website on Jan. 18. CMON Games, Guillotine Games, Spin Master Games are already fully funding the project. The only requirement to get the product delivered is $500,000 by the designers.

Players will be placed on an NYC-inspired board and have to control a group of zombie superheroes. Players will play as zombies of popular characters such as Deadpool, Captain Marvel and Iron Man. They’ll have to feed on bystanders — increasing their power and gaining new perks — and battle living heroes to stay in the game. The game also features a hunger meter, which players will have to satisfy if they don’t want to lose control of their zombie hero.

A second game is also available as a pledge. Marvel Zombies: X-Men ResistanceThis gives the players an alternative perspective. Marvel ZombiesA day-one expansion will be launched as well. Galactus The Devourer. This expansion includes a huge Galactus character. Players can alter his head or arm to transform him into a living Galactus, or a zombie Galactus. Players can then defeat or devour Galactus in an encounter with its own ruleset and cards — including a living and dead Silver Surfer figure.

With the Kickstarter’s massive success, the developers have already added multiple hero figures as stretch goals, such as living and zombified versions of Luke Cage, Beast, and Winter Soldier.

Kickstarter offers three pledge levels for gamers to select from, depending on the amount of game they are interested in. You can find the full list of pledge levels here. Marvel Zombies has an estimated shipping date of October 2022, while the rest of the items won’t ship until at least June 2023.
