Devotion developer Red Candle announces Sekiro-inspired Nine Sols

Red Candle Games’ work in psychological horror is what makes it most famous. The Detention“The highly controversial” Devotion, but it’s making a big swerve for its next project, Nine Sols. The Taiwanese developer announced its next project on Thursday, calling it a “2D action platformer with Sekiro-inspired deflection-focused combat.”

The developer is, of course, referring to FromSoftware’s samurai action game, Sekiro: Shadows Die TwiceCombat requires quick reflexes as well patience.

Continue reading social media, Red Candle further describes Nine Sols as a “lore rich” and “hand-drawn” Asian fantasy. “[E]xplore the land once home to an ancient alien race, and follow a vengeful hero’s quest to slay the 9 Sols, formidable rulers of this forsaken realm.”

Another piece of artwork was released by the developer. Nine SolsThis image depicts a cat-like creature looking at itself in a pool full of blood. The character seems to live in futuristic cyberpunk, but the surroundings reflecting in the pool seem hyper-natural with floating mountains in the background and a large, deep moon.

Red Candle shared a teaser video in March that showed a project still in progress. Nine Sols’ description.

Red Candle Games didn’t announce any release windows or platforms. Nine Sols. The developer released 2017’s The Detention on a variety of PC, mobile, and console platforms, while its follow-up game, 2019’s DevotionOnly for Windows PCs and Macs
