Worms, Dredge Publisher Team17 Is The Latest To Be Hit By Layoffs
The games industry saw a flood of layoffs last week, with Sega, Ubisoft Blizzard and Epic Games among them. Unfortunately, this week seems to be following the trend – Team17, publisher of the Worms series, Blasphemous, Dredge, and more, has announced layoffs as well, according to Eurogamer.
The “restructuring” of the company will lead to the loss of about 50 jobs, the majority in the QA department. Eurogamer reports that the announcement was made to staff during an urgent town hall this morning.
Team17 CEO Michael Pattison, along with members of the QA Team, will be stepping aside, as per a recent statement. VG247. The situation is in stark contrast with many recent layoffs where the executives were exempted from any cost-cutting measure. The full statement is below.
